Are We Permitted to Eat Things Sacrificed to Idols?
Objection: It's impossible that Paul could have been wrong because the bible says that all scripture is inspired of GOD and the entire bible is the word of GOD which is all true.
Answer: 2 Tim.3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness".
A. When Paul wrote this to Timothy, He was speaking about the Greek Septuagint Old Testament. Only the Old Testament was considered scripture at the time and only the Greek Septuagint was available to the people, not KJV or any other version. Paul was not talking about his own writings. He didn't even know that his writings would later be considered as scripture.
B. Not everything in the bible is the word of GOD. First of all, we know without any doubt that the Catholic Church added some words & verses. They even publicly admit such. But even if 1 Corinthians chapters 8 & 10 were not corrupted, even Paul himself said that not everything he said was the word of GOD. Notice in 1 Cor.11:1,2,16 that he was speaking only of his own customs/opinion, and again in 1 Cor. 7:6,10,12 that he said that it was only his opinion and not "thus saith GOD". Every human preacher/minister speaks his own mind in conjunction with the word of GOD.
C. Paul was not Jesus Christ. He was human, fully capable of making mistakes. Even Peter made mistakes and did not understand what Jesus was telling him.
D. There is the possibility that Paul's words are misunderstood due to modern cultural differences and/or incorrect translations or corruptions in the text.
